What is non-medical homecare?

Non-Medical Homecare is a private duty service provided to individuals who can manage their personal care, but need companionship and assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as a standalone service or as a supplement to professional/skilled health services. Services may include:

  • Nutritious meal preparation including special diets
  • Housekeeping
  • Companionship and socialization
  • Shopping and errands
  • Local transportation services
  • Home safety and supervision

There are many diverse groups of people who have a need for non-medical homecare (children and adults with disabilities, the handicapped living alone and mothers with newborn children). Senior Choice Home Care specializes in SENIOR CARE. We believe this single focus allows us to better understand and meet the needs of today’s seniors’. What are the costs for the service?

Senior Choice Home Care offers quality services at affordable rates providing the best home care value. Our fees are based upon the individual needs of our clients. Upon assessment of the clients needs we will gladly prepare a FREE in-home CARE plan. Current rate information is available by calling our office.

How does senior choice ensure integrity of its caregivers?

We are highly selective in the Caregivers we hire. Only caregivers exhibiting the highest level of integrity, compassion, sincerity and professional demeanor become members of the Senior Choice Home Caregiver team. All our Caregivers undergo a lengthy interview at our local office, a pre-hire competency evaluation and extensive pre-hire checks before they are hired. Our background checks include the following:

  • State criminal background checks
  • State DMV motor vehicle checks
  • Social security validation
  • Personal and professional reference verification
  • Credit reviews

What type of training do you provide employees?

All Senior Choice Home Care employees are required to participate in Senior Choice University. This mandatory training program is instructed by our staff Registered Nurse and assisted by our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The curriculum covers a diverse selection of topics relevant to eldercare needs and code of conduct and policies. This training is augmenting by monthly information mailers on company policy and various aging related topics.

Who handles the insurance and payroll services?

We do. All Caregivers are employees of Senior Choice Home Care not private contractors. Our full service agency is responsible for insuring the client and caregiver. We’ll manage all the necessary details of being an employer including; scheduling, payroll, insurance, social security, state & federal taxes, W-2 Forms and Workers’ Compensation filings.

What are your minimum hours of service?

We are glad to provide a minimum of three hours per visit.

What if my aide gets sick or is temporarily unavailable?

We have an excellent backup policy which will send a substitute whose skills, experience and personality match the client’s needs.

Am I obligated to continue services for any set period of time?

You can cancel at any time. However, we appreciate receiving as much notice as possible so we can insure job continuity for the caregivers.

Are your services covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance?

We are a private, fee-based service. However, some long term care insurance policies do cover our services.

Do you provide caregivers with experience with Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other conditions associated with the elderly?

Yes we do. We carefully match or caregivers based upon the clients individual needs and priorities: all our caregivers are thoroughly screened, trained and supervised by a registered nurse.

My family member is in a nursing facility and we would like to get additional help with “one on one” care, can you provide this?

Yes, we provide services to clients in nursing facilities, assisted living residences as well as client’s homes.
